I'm based in San Francisco and spend a lot of my time making things, learning how stuff works, and trying out random projects just because they seem interesting.
I also like staying close to nature. Flowers show up in almost everything I make, wear, or keep around me, and I find a lot of peace outside. I stay active through running and cycling, and my favorite hidden gem in the area is biking to Kirby Cove under the Golden Gate Bridge.
Words I like to live by, and a useful reminder when things start feeling a little too serious.
Lately I've been into
Repurposing old technology in creative ways, inspired by Nintendo's lateral thinking with withered technology. Check out my NFC-embedded Tiny Art Palette project.
Taking a creative sabbatical after leaving my last job to get back in touch with my creative side, which meant healing my relationship with art and making it feel playful and low-stakes again. I stumbled into the ACEO community, started making tiny works on paper, and let myself make bad, messy, throwaway art just to keep that muscle moving. That eventually led to TinyGallery.io.
Going down rabbit holes to learn how things are made:
Shampoo + conditioner bars
After my boyfriend spent $60 on a set of shampoo and conditioner bars, I had to know what made them so good. I bought the supplies and have spent the last couple months testing all-natural, plant-based formulas, and somehow they're better than anything I've ever bought from the store.
Backyard metalwork
When I lived at a place with a backyard, I used to carve and cast silver rings back there, probably looking extremely suspicious to my neighbors. If metalwork sounds fun, I 100% recommend taking a class at Metalworks SF.
Foraging + natural materials
Nature turns into its own rabbit hole too. I like learning what can be foraged in different places, from morel mushrooms on a hike to harvesting seaweed and turning it into fabric dye.
